Online Qur'an classes for children
A patient beginning, with a teacher who hears your child read in every class.
Children learn best with patience, repetition and a teacher who knows them. In these live online classes, children learn the Arabic letters, their correct sounds and the rules of Tajweed, alongside others of their own age — taught by Mohammad Shafi Mir, a trained teacher with more than twenty-five years of experience.
A gentle beginning
A child's first experience of the Qur'an shapes how they feel about it for years to come. So lessons are short, calm and encouraging. Every child reads in every class, and each mistake is corrected kindly, before it becomes a habit.
What your child will learn
- The Arabic letters and their correct sounds
- Joining letters, vowels and reading words
- The rules of Tajweed, learned while reading
- Reading the Qur'an on their own — and, later, the Seerah of the Prophet ﷺ and daily duas
For parents
- Classes are live, and you are welcome to sit in
- Children learn with others of a similar age and level
- Girls may learn in separate classes
- Morning and evening times, to fit around school
- You may ask about your child's progress on WhatsApp at any time
Questions
From what age can a child begin?
Most children are ready at around five years old, once they can sit attentively for a short lesson. There is no upper age limit — children, teenagers and adults each learn with others at a similar stage.
How will I know how my child is doing?
Because the teacher hears your child read in every class, he knows exactly where they are. You are welcome to ask on WhatsApp at any time.
How many students are in a class?
Classes are kept small, so that every student can read aloud and be corrected in every class. Students learn alongside others of a similar age and level.
When are the classes held?
Classes are held daily, with morning and evening times, so that they can fit around school, college and work. Let us know what suits you and we will find a suitable class.
What is needed to join?
A phone, tablet or computer with a steady internet connection, and a quiet place to sit. Earphones help. We will send the class link before the first class.
Is the first class free?
Yes. The first class is free of charge. It is a chance to meet the teacher, read together, and find the right place to begin. You can arrange it on WhatsApp or by phone.
